[Beens Prayer Partners] we're home

Dear friends,

Just wanted to let you know we arrived home safely and in about 13
hrs total time (. The border was a breeze for which we were really
grateful and the kids overall did extremely well despite all the time
in the car and the cramped quarters.

Thanks for much for your prayers. We are very grateful for them and
know indeed the Lord was answering - how else could a 8, 6, 3, and 1
year old plus parents endure so much time in the car without fun
break stops and not have a complete breakdown! Ha.

We look forward to unpacking, settling back in and touching base with
friends and colleagues over the next few days.

Blessings,
Robin and Dan

[Beens Prayer Partners] travel plans

Dear friends,

Just wanted to give you the final word on our travel plans and ask for your prayers. We will be
leaving early tomorrow morning (Monday, around 4 a.m.) and are planning to make the trip all
in one day - about 12 - 13 hrs of driving plus a bit of time at the border crossing.

Please pray for safety in our travel, for patience on the part of all - though especially for the
kids, for no troubles at the border crossing.

Thanks for much, we'll drop a note either once we've arrived home Monday evening or early
Tuesday morning to let you know we made it.

Blessings,
Robin

[Beens Prayer Partners] update on things

Dear friends,

We have a big praise to share with you! Today Karunia had her
appointment with the eye specialists from Scotland. The doctor was
very pleased with her vision and testing, declared that her eye is not
turning with her glasses on and in fact, with her glasses she is now
seeing 20/20. Both of these things are huge improvements since last
February when the Dr. in S. Africa said she'd need surgery. It's even
an improvement since the doctor here saw her in April. Anyway, the
doctor said,at least for now, she doesn't need to have surgery on her
eye as the glasses are correcting the problem and holding things
steady.

She continues to do great following her surgery on her neck. Dan and
I can already see a drastic improvement in the way her shoulders sit
and the way she holds her head is improving each day. The doctor was
pleased with her initial follow-up but did say he wants her to wear
her neck brace for a full 6 weeks. She's doing amazingly well with it
and has had no complaints (and no one has poked fun at her). I do
wonder how she'll do as we head back to Mozambique and she'll have to
wear it in front of her friends but we are trusting that she'll do
well.

Plans for our return are being made. We have an appointment to have a
final tune-up and such on the car for this upcoming Thursday, need to
finish making inquiries as to options for birthing a baby here, and
Dan is scheduled to preach on Sunday. If everything goes acording to
plan then we'll plan to leave here on Monday for our return to Moz.
and just have to decide if we're going to make the drive in one day or
two. We'll let you know on that once we know.

Thanks so much for your prayers.

Blessings,
Robin and Dan

PS - another joy to share (for Josiah) is that he lost his first tooth
this morning and is so excited!!

[Beens Prayer Partners] (no subject)

Dear friends,

Thanks so much for your prayers regarding Karunia's neck surgery!!!
Surgery on Tuesday went very well, proceeding just as the doctor had
expected. She was of course a bit sore that afternoon and a touch
nauseaus but managed to keep down some porridge so the IV could be
removed that same evening. On Wednesday morning the doctor came into
see her and said she'd be able to go home that day so she was very
excited. Already we can see a big difference her her stance and the
doctor says that will continue to improve with time.

She is currently in a neck brace, solely for the purpose of helping to
retrain her to hold her head correctly, since she's so used to holding
it cock-eyed. We're currently on a wait and see basis for how long
she has to wear it. The initial verdict had been 1 month all the time
and then only at night for a couple more weeks but the doctor has now
said that we'll make a call when he sees her next wk. She is very
self-conscious about the collar and afraid people are going to laugh
at her. Of course that's very understandable, but please pray she'll
adjust to it and remember that her worth comes not from others
opinions but from her value as God's child. Of course it'd be nice if
people wouldn't laugh so please perhaps pray people will be gracious
as well.

During this interim we're getting other things done and will have her
follow-up next wk and then see the team of eye doctors on the 16th to
get that surgery date set. We'll keep you updated. Thanks again!

Robin (for the clan)
