[Beens Prayer Partners] update

Dear friends,

Just wanted to let you know we arrive safely in Malawi on Monday
afternoon. Travel went well minus one almost serious accident on
Sunday evening, but the Lord protected us and quickly sent help to
pull us back up on the road. No one was hurt at all so praise the
Lord and do not worry.

We saw the doctor today (Thursday)so here is the further details
for Karunia's neck surgery. On Monday the 2nd we'll check her
into the hospital about 3pm (w/Robin) so lab work and such can be
completed. Surgery itself will be early Tuesday morning (your
middle of Monday night). We know she'll stay Tuesday night in the
hospital and most likely go home on Wed. though they said 2 nights
post surgery isn't uncommon.

Please pray all will go well, but mostly for Karunia and for peace
on her heart. She doesn't do well with needles so I'm honestly
most concerned with them trying to do the lab work on Monday and
whenever they'll have to put in an IV. Dan will be with the other
3 kids so pray for them. I'll send an update asap post surgery
but since we're using internet cafes and Dan doesn't do e-mail so
often that may not be until after she's home from the hospital.

Blessings,
Robin

PS. Sarah, I don't have the team web address so please forward
this to the rest of GNFA.

[Beens Prayer Partners] Prayers for Dan and Robin Been

Dear Friends and Family,

It's been a while since you've heard from us; forgive us for that,
though we'd like to quickly take the opportunity to catch up with you
a bit.

First of all, join us in praising the Lord for the past couple months.

During this time we have received visitors from two of our supporting
churches: our sending church, 1st Christian in Wood River, IL and
also a group of men from Glenview Christian in Glasgow, KY. We
immensely enjoyed the time with each of these men! It was great to
be able to show people around our home, our city, and most
importantly to let them view and participate in the ministry we have
here. Also they were a great encouragement and blessing to us and
the kids!!!!

Dan finished up this past round of Saturday classes. The students
have been working and studying since February a course called Firm
Foundations. It was a great study and full of challenges for them.
Each of the students passed and today were able to conclude with a
time of praise and a bit of a party, including sharing a cake which
Robin had made.

The preparation phases for the development farm are coming along. We
now have rabbit hutches on our property with 4 females and a buck.
One female has already birthed a small litter and another is newly
pregnant. Various types of gardening beds have been prepared and
planting will begin soon as will various composting systems, etc.
The layer chickens which are technically Josiah's and the broiler
chickens which were Karunia's (we just slaughtered last wk) are doing
well. Preparations are beginning down the road as well on our
teammate's property and there is now a manual percussion-style well
driller which has been made and tested out to use in conjunction with
the farm. If preparations continue as they should, then we hope to
be prepared to accept groups for learning/teaching at the first of
the year.

Construction should begin soon (but remember we mean "African" soon)
on the center in town. Once that is done then the association will
have the necessary income to fund the internship program which is
waiting to start.

The kids are doing well and overall we've remained healthy.

Indeed we are thankful for all the above.

We would like to ask you to pray for a couple specific things:

First of all, our visitors from Glenview have just now left (Saturday
night the 23rd) for their trip back to the States. Please pray that
all their travel would be uneventful and safe. Pray for them as they
reconnect with their families, as they adjust back to Central time
and as they settle back into work and life.

Secondly, please pray for us over the next few weeks. We are leaving
tomorrow (Sunday the 24th) for Malawi. While there Karunia will be
having 2 surgeries - one on a muscle in her neck (slated for Tuesday
July 3rd) and the 2nd to shorten the muscle in her left eye so it
will stop turning inward. She has an appointment with the eye
doctors on the 16th and surgery should be very shortly after that.
While there we'll also take the opportunity for Robin to have a pre-
natal exam (as our next baby should arrive around the end of December
or early January. Yes this is our announcement) and we'll get some
minor work done on the car.

Pray for our travel (we'll use 2 half-days for the drive and it
should be fairly easy, though we are going by ourselves), for
successful surgeries and quick recovery; also peace of mind for
Karunia as she's a touch nervous. Pray for Robin during this
pregnancy and the development of our child, and finally that while
there we'd be able to get a touch of rest.

Thanks so much for your support and prayers. We appreciate you greatly.

Thanks and Blessings,
Dan and Robin Been

PS. We will still have e-mail access while in Malawi so feel free to
keep writing, though we probably will only be checking 3-4 times per
weeks so be patient with us if our response is a bit slow. We will
do our best to keep you informed of Karunia's progress (dates,
reports, etc).

[Beens Prayer Partners] Prayers for the Beens

Dear Friends,

First, please pray as we have been going through a round of
sickness. Today Robin and two of our kids are ill. Dan has had to
stay home from work to help take care of things. Before anyone
thinks we have some strange African illness that we will all die
from, it is just something will pass as Dan has already had it and he
still is breathing. But, please pray as it is no fun.

Second, please pray for one of the churches we are involved with as
they are going to be changing the way they "do church". The
leadership is going to announce tomorrow their plans for a new future
as the church is floundering and not uplifting to anyone involved.

Thanks and Blessings,

Dan and Robin B.
