[Beens Prayer Partners] 2 praises

Dear friends,

Thanks so much for your prayers regarding the paperwork on our car.  Dan went in yesterday for the scheduled inspection.  The lady was very cordial, and after locating the paperwork which they'd lost from the prior Thursday, said she saw and understood things were just a mistake (it greatly helped he'd located the import papers on the car which the dealership had passed along to us) and she just needed one more verification from Maputo.  She asked that he return in the afternoon to pick up the new and corrected title.  A couple trips back in the afternoon yielded nothing as Maputo had not yet gotten back with her.  Anyway we went this morning, watched for 45 minutes as they searched the entire office once again for our paperwork which they'd misplaced since yesterday, waited an additional 30 minutes, and then had the satisfaction of seeing her filling in the new title.  We did have to leave one more time so she could have her boss sign off on things, but this afternoon we came away with our new paperwork - all without too much hassle and no "extra" fees!!!!!  As a sidenote - Dan had thought it'd be a help to have the kids with him.  That proved true as yesterday the lady was quite "taken" by the boys and today was "hurrying" to help us as Esperansa was not very happy.

We also have a 2nd praise to share with you.  Yesterday evening, Josiah was misbehaving - jumping up and down and grabbing onto things.  Well he grabbed hold of one of the hoses to the hot water heater (it's mounted on the wall) and broke it, causing water to spray all over him and the floor, etc.  Praise the Lord he broke the cold water hose and therefore was not scalded or burned!!!!  Even the man who came out today to replace the hose stopped Josiah and told him he'd have been severely burned if he'd broken the other hose.  Now we just pray he's learned his lesson.

Rejoice with us!
Robin and Dan

[Beens Prayer Partners] Pray for Dan and Robin

Hey Prayer Partners,

Here's a new prayer request for you.  The company we use for car insurance called Dan the other day and said they needed to see the car again. Well, Dan went and explained that the car had already been checked out.  They found the paper work and found a discrepancy between the car documents (title), issued by the Government, and what is actually imprinted on the car.  Whoever filled out the documents and issued them simply left out one number.  This should be no big deal to get straighten out, however, we are in a third world country.  Today Dan filled out the paperwork and paid fees so the car can be inspected and the government issued papers can be correct.  However, the office ran out of receipts and could not give him all the receipts needed.  Despite this he was still assigned an inspection day.  Please pray that between now and Monday the paper work will not be lost and on Monday morning, Sunday night your time, when the car is inspected it will be obvious that it was a simple mistake and the paper work will be fixed quickly and we will not have to jump though more hoops and pay a ton of money.

Blessings,
Dan and Robin

[Beens Prayer Partners] Aug. prayer letter

Dear friends,                                                                                                     Aug 2006

REJOICE WITH US!!

  • Dan’s two trips to his discipleship point in Netia went well this month.  During the 2nd visit our entire family went as did the Ragsdales (a family that was visiting).  The wife and daughters of this family held a teaching time with over 50 ladies that day and it went great.  Robin was occupied mostly with our children but did sit down with all the other children around to read a Bible story as well as some other books in Portuguese and to let the kids color.   They all seemed to have fun.
  • Gito, Dan’s helper, has of course been participating in his classes.  Well on this last trip to Netia we were running a bit late so Dan asked Gito, who was in the other car ahead of us, to begin the class.  We arrived and Gito was doing such a great job that Dan let him continue.  Now Dan is making plans to divide the group in Netia into two groups.  One part will study Genesis with Dan for the 1st part of the morning while Gito instructs the other group on Biblical interpretation.  After a break the two groups can switch places.   How exciting this is to us!  We’re here to train others so they in turn can be the trainers and now we’re seeing a small measure of that take place!
  • Alberto is our new yard worker.  We thank the Lord for him!
  • New and prospective team mates!!!  Laura Rosten will be arriving in early September for a two year term.  We have an intern, Patty Maddux, arriving in early October so she can observe the ministry and decide if she’d like to serve here full time.  Daniel and Melissa Maddux and family were accepted last year to join our team and are currently trying to raise support to join us in 2007.  Doug and Beth Winter, a couple who visited with us in June and July are highly interested in returning to work full time in the future, and finally another couple, the Vaughns, will be coming in November for an internship.  There is much work to be done and we’re so excited about the fire each of these people have about serving (or potentially serving) here in Mozambique with us.
  • Early in the month we were able to make a day trip out to Miqueburi to attend church with a few of the students Dan teaches in his 2 day per month class.  This trip went very well & there actually were a couple baptisms that day.
  • Other than perhaps minor colds, we’ve all remained very healthy!
  • All six of the students in Dan’s Saturday class are set to pass the class which ends this upcoming weekend.
  • On the 17th of this month we celebrate 10 years of marriage!!
  • Last, but not least, we are thankful for YOU!  Thank you for standing in the gap on our behalf.  Thank you for supporting our ministry.  Thank you for being an encouragement to us!

PLEASE PRAY:

  • For the new contacts which have been made at the center recently.  Several new people (with potential for more) are signing up for times of one-on-one study with Dan.  Pray for each of these men that they would grow in their knowledge and understanding of our Lord and His Word.  Pray for Dan as he teaches these men.
  • For safety in travel.  Dan always heads out to Netia two times each month for a time of discipleship.  Many of the men who meet with him however have walked for 6 hours or so to attend classes.  This month the group is going to rotate location and format a bit so that Dan can visit the churches these men attend more regularly.
  • Please pray for the association of the Center (the Mustard Seed) as they seek the best plan and format for physically improving the center and as they strategize to design future programs.
  • Please pray for Robin as it seems suddenly several different ministry opportunities have been laid in front of her.  Pray she’d be wise in knowing which, if any, of these opportunities to become involved in and that she’d balance her time well.
  • For good team relations, especially as everyone but ourselves are away at the moment so all our communication and such is being done by e-mail!
  • For August to be a month of decent rest (Dan’s weekend classes will be on break and we have no anticipated visitors).
  • For stamina and energy for the incredibly busy fall we have ahead of us (besides our normal activities we have one new teammate arriving followed closely by an intern, both of whom we’re overseeing.  Teammates begin to return in October as well and then another interning couple arrives in November).
  • For protection: physically, spiritually, and mentally.
  • For Karunia, Josiah, Asher and Esperansa - just in general.

Thanks so much for your prayers.  Thank you for your partnership!

Blessings,

Robin & Dan
