[Beens Prayer Partners] Mar 06 prayer letter

Dear Friends,                                                                                       March 2006

Thanks for standing in the gap on our behalf.  We appreciate each and every one of you!!!

PLEASE PRAY:

FOOD PROJECTS AND HUNGER ISSUES:  The famine months are continuing to run their course.  People are hungry and food is hard to come by.  You know that our teammates, the Gardner’s have been administering a food distribution program, primarily in Nampula, since January which will continue through April.  We too are picking up a distribution project in the area of Natia (one of Dan’s discipleship areas) to run for March and April.

  • Pray the Gardner’s project would continue to run well and that food would reach those most in need.
  • Pray for our food distribution project – our goal is to provide a huge sack of dried cassava to over 330 families within the Natia area both in March and again in April.  One sack should at least provide the base of food to last an entire month.
  • Pray the rains would continue or even increase a touch so that people’s crops will produce well this year and help avert hunger issues later in the year.

MINISTRY:  Things are continuing to go really well on all fronts.  A few students have had to drop the weekend classes, however the majority is still there and all passed their mid-term tests which they took yesterday.  Discipleship points are also going well.

  • Wednesday, March 1st Dan will travel to Natia for his discipleship meetings.  Pray for his teaching and for those in attendance.
  • Pray for Dan’s one-on-one discipleship appointments at the center.  That each of these men would grow in their knowledge and understanding of God’s word.
  • Pray the weekend class students would continue to remain consistent in attendance and that they would continue to hunger and thirst for God and more knowledge of Him.
  • Pray for Dan’s language to continue to expand and develop.
  • Pray for Shawn and Dan as they continue to work and develop further ministry programs.

HEALTH:  We’re approaching a change of seasons (moving from summer to winter) and just as in the States these changes in season can bring with them various illnesses.

  • Pray for our continued health.  Overall we’re doing well, though Karunia did have a cold this past month and both boys have had Scabies and an incredible heat rash.  Most recently, Asher broke out with hives two days ago.
  • Pray for God’s continued protection from malaria and other large illnesses.
  • Pray for Lazaro.  He’s one of our workers and has been off work for the past three weeks dues to an extremely painful rash/case of sores.  Things are improving, however he still has a ways to go.  Pray for a complete recovery on his part.
  • Continue to pray for Josiah’s eyes – that the partial patching would maintain his vision so that we don’t have to return to full patching.  He’ll see the doctor again in early May so we’ll find out then how things are going.

 MISC:

  • Pray schooling with the kids would continue to go well and for wisdom in parenting.
  • Pray others would rise up with the desire to come work here in Mozambique!
  • Pray that our team relations would continue to be good.  That communication would be open and we’d all work well together.
  • Please pray for one our guards, Jafar.  He hadn’t come into work for the last couple days and we finally found out why.  Apparently sometime in the course of this last week his wife left.  We don’t know much more than that as he hasn’t been around (we assume he’s out with her family trying to resolve the situation).  Pray that this marriage could be restored and pray that both Jafar and his wife would come to know the Lord.  Pray also for the two children in the home.

 PRAISE HIM!!!!

  • Ministry is running so smoothly right now.  In this we greatly rejoice – join with us in that.
  • Praise God for wonderful teammates already on field, for a family currently raising support to come join our team, and for interns coming this spring and fall to check out the work and ministry of GNFA in Mozambique.
  • For those who remember, a part on our truck broke while Dan was driving it back to Nampula from southern Mozambique in late December.  We’d worried (?) that things might not be able to be repaired here, however we found a mechanic who was able to make the repairs and those have now been done.  Praise God for this provision.
  • Praise God for the wonderful support we’ve received thus far to back our food distribution project.
  • Praise God for each of our financial supporters (churches and individuals), without whom we could not be here.
  • Praise God for Kelly, our forwarding agent, who does so much on our behalf!

[Beens Prayer Partners] quick comments

Dear friends,

Thanks so much for your partnership.  First of all, after hearing about the earthquake in Mozambique, wanting to make sure we were allright.  First let me assure you that we are fine.  Actually we hadn't even known there'd been an earthquake in Mozambique.   Please do pray for those who were affected by it however.

Also, please pray - we are going to be starting a food distribution program for the months of March and April in the area of Natia (where one of Dan's discipleship points is).  This area has been hugely affected by the lack of food.  We know at least 2 have died due to starvation and otehrs are incredibly weak (3 men didn't make it to the last discipleship meeting because they were too weak, due to lack of food, to make the 3 hour walk).  Our goal is to provide a large sack of dried cassava (a main staple food here) each month to the 330+ families which are active members within the 13 churches in this area.  Please pray God would use this program to sustain the people's physical needs.

Thanks so much!
Dan and Robin
